Orange Egypt Showcases State-of-the-Art Solutions for Digital Transformation at Cairo ICT 2020
- And Provides Wi-Fi and Internet Services Exclusively During the Exhibition
Orange Egypt, the leading provider of integrated telecommunications services, announced its participation in the 24th Cairo ICT which is held from November 22-25 under the patronage of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Orange Egypt has showcased a wide range of its latest solutions and technologies in its booth to support the digital transformation of major projects in addition to its digital services for small and medium-sized enterprises and services for individuals in several leading sectors.
During Cairo ICT 2020, Orange launched innovations and smart solutions that will enhance Egypt’s digital transformation in the fields of Distance Learning, Smart Transportation, and E-commerce. Moreover, Orange enabled many electronic financial services, replacing loyalty points, and obtaining various telecom services from Orange.
In addition, Orange Egypt presented the latest smart city solutions, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) that supports the automation and control of all road services, smart lighting, and surveillance cameras equipped with face recognition systems. It is one of the main pillars that help to raise the security efficiency of cities.
Orange also demonstrated the New Administrative City data center services and solutions, where Orange is assigned to design, build and operate with investments reaching USD 135 million. The new data center is considered one of the major technological centers in Egypt and the African continent, and it is a state-of-the-art data center distinguished by its great ability to accommodate and handle data, information and security in Egypt and Africa. The data center will host the city operations center "all smart solutions in the new capital" in addition to helping the new administrative capital to become a cloud service provider.
Concerning education, which is a key pillar of Egypt’s strategy and vision for 2030, Orange showcased the Learning Management System (LMS) which is a platform for digital learning where schools and universities can easily manage their educational resources through one platform.
The new system allows students to study online, communicate with their teachers, download all study materials and educational content, and allow parents to track and evaluate students' progress, and for teachers to send exams, study materials and training courses. In addition, the system can manage the school and university bus fleet systems.
Nevertheless, Orange has provided special technologies to allow connection to these platforms remotely in a fast, easy and safe way, especially in remote places that are inaccessible to regular data transmission networks. Orange also provides a number of packages and subscriptions that have been specially developed to serve the educational system.
During the exhibition, Orange also displayed its latest digital services to support the educational process in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Technical Education and Al Mentor Company with its VOD education content. The MoE will provide Egyptian students with official learning material that will be hosted on Orange’s cloud and is expected to be launched on 1st of December 2020 where Orange Cash service will be used as a method of payment via smartphones
Believing in the effective role of Startups, Orange has offered during the exhibition the “Orange E-Mall” virtual service will allow medium and small Enterprises (SME) to sell their products and services through the virtual store of Orange, and attract more potential customers through a package of unique and exclusive services. It also allows customers of those companies to complete their purchases using Orange Cash e-wallets.
The “Orange E-Mall” virtual service comes in cooperation with Zammit, one of the emerging companies working in the field of building virtual stores that aims to build nearly 100,000 stores within the next five years.
The service will also enable companies to collect the value of products or services from their customers directly without the need for an intermediary service provider, as is the case in most of the currently existing virtual stores, whose collection period may range between 30-60 days.
Orange also unveiled the latest services of electronic collection services for merchants via the "QR code" using the mobile phone or online in cooperation with the MEEZA network, allowing “Orange Cash” merchants to accept payments from various e-wallet customers in Egypt.
Orange has also provided the QR code service in the company's stores, so that the customer can get special offers when using it and paying through Orange Cash wallet. Customers can also use the loyalty program points to buy with installment payment options.
The new service allows Orange Cash customers to purchase goods from merchants and companies via mobile phone, backing the efforts of the Central Bank of Egypt to spread mobile phone services, which has a positive impact on reducing cash transactions to reach a cashless society.
With the development of the electronic wallet service in order to facilitate customers' lives, Orange Cash wallet services witnessed a big boom in the recent period as it provides all the services that the customer needs, such as the ability to pay Orange bills, recharge the balance, pay water, electricity and gas bills, in addition to the possibility of donating to more than 20 charitable institution, and many other services aimed at making the user's life easier.
Orange has also expanded its withdrawal and deposit services through Fawry outlets, with more than 130,000 outlets all over Egypt in addition to 10,000 ATMs for withdrawals and deposits, as well as through more than 800 Orange stores in all governorates of Egypt.
Orange has also showcased “My Orange” application, which provides Orange customers with many privileges in managing their accounts easily wherever convenient without the need to visit the shops such as Orange Cash services, controlling Mobile wallets and money transfer, recharging credit balance & paying bills with credit cards. Customers are also able to manage Internet services for mobile, and Home Internet and a variety of entertainment services (games, ports, and more) as well as the online store to buy the latest devices with installment options. In addition to other offers provided in cooperation with Orange partners. The application also helps customers to know the nearest Orange shop and reserve their turn in advance.
During the exhibition, Orange presented its Corporate Social Responsibility projects, especially the initiatives that aimed to support the state’s efforts during outbreak of COVID-19 where the company directed its support to those who were affected badly by COVID-19 repercussions, whether the daily workers or those who work in the medical sector, from which the number of beneficiaries reached more than 500 thousand.
Besides, Orange supported public hospitals in all governorates by offering medical and preventive supplies and respirators and to this day, Orange is still continuing this support, in addition to distributing more than 100 thousand cartons of food and disinfectant materials.
Orange Mini Fab Labs have also contributed to these initiatives in cooperation with Fab Lab Egypt where the company was been keen to spread in a sustainable manner for years in other governorates to solve the centralization problem in Cairo and enhance the Egyptian industrial capabilities in Ismailia, Aswan, Assiut, Mansoura and Sharkia.
The company has supported Enactus national competition over the past 13 years, in which more than 54 universities have competed and for two years in a row, Egypt won the first prize in the international competition that was also sponsored by Orange Egypt. And this year, Al-Azhar University in Assiut won its first participation in the competition, and won the first prize as well.
Orange Group has also pumped investment of over 670,000 euros in 7 countries to support startups where “7Keema” project, which is an advanced digital application for integrated healthcare, representing Egypt won the prize. The application provides home nursing services to patients after their discharge from hospitals, provide care for the patients with chronic diseases and as well as the elderly care services it provides in addition to many other health care services. Orange Group will provide the team with more than 100 thousand euros as an initial funding.
Commenting on this occasion, Hishsam Mahran Chief Enterprise Line of Business Officer expressed his enthusiasm for participating in this edition of Cairo ICT 2020, saying “This edition of Cairo ICT is absolutely crucial as it is being held in light of critical and challenging circumstances due to COVID-19 that unveiled to the whole world the need for embracing digital transformation and the importance of utilizing the advanced technology in almost every aspect of life,”
