Fab Lab Egypt is a community-run makerspace and digital fabrication lab founded in 2012 by young Egyptians where anyone can make almost anything, from electronics to furniture and installations. Young children, college students, entrepreneurs and businesses materialize and prototype their ideas in the lab. They can also get together to share knowledge, and collaborate on projects and hands-on activities. Fan Lab Egypt promotes innovation and education by providing the prototyping and fabrication facility in addition to hands-on workshops and training.
The lab is a member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Fab Lab global network since 2012.
Orange is supporting Fab Lab Egypt to accomplish their vision through a program, which aims to establish five mini fablabs in five different governorates to empower Egyptians in different sectors to participate in designing and making the products.
