ICT Minister Witnesses the Signing of Protocols between Orange Egypt and NTI to qualify Egypt's youth for the Labor Market

Orange Egypt has signed a cooperation protocol with the National Telecommunication Institute affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information to participate in the Digital Egypt Youth “DEY” Initiative launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This comes in line with Orange role in enhancing the skills of young graduates and believing in its responsibility to Egypt's youth. The Initiative aims to train and professionally prepare Egypt's bright young people for the workforce while enhancing the skills of young cadres in a variety of ICT and electronics technologies fields.

Under the protocol, Orange Egypt will train dozens of young people at the job level, develop their skills, and provide them with the expertise necessary to engage smoothly and efficiently in the labor market. This is done through an integrated training program that extends for about 120 hours, provided that detailed reports will be prepared at the end of the training period on the tasks carried out by the trainee and his performance. The trainees are then given certificates that have been approved by the company.

The job training provided by Orange is distinguished by the practical development of youth capabilities and providing them with applied skills that give them competitive advantages compared to their peers in the region. In addition, the training program qualify them for the labor market and enhance their creative energy, skill and technical capabilities, by following the latest modern technologies that are most efficient in teaching youth on the requirements of the communications and technology industry through a real-world experience.

Orange Egypt's participation in this initiative is consistent with its global social responsibility strategy, which prioritizes youth and empowers and rehabilitates them in various fields through a variety of initiatives aimed at discovering talent, supporting ideas, and assisting emerging entrepreneurs with training, financing, and access to global expertise in the technology sectors. Furthermore, Orange Academy for Development trainings in addition to the annual trainings supports ambitious cadres as well as those wishing to make a career transition to the IT industry. Over the last five years, the average number of beneficiaries of Orange Egypt's various youth programs has exceeded 11,000 young people.

Orange Egypt also aims in particular to enable the Egyptian community to capture the great advantages inherent in the ICT industry by disseminating tools for understanding and knowledge of this sector among youth, who are best positioned to follow the rapid development witnessed by this industry in Egypt and the world.

For his part, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, confirmed that constructive partnerships between the government, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and private sector companies are among the most key features of the ICT sector. He noted that the ICT sector has recently become a locomotive for development and has experienced the highest growth among state sectors over the last four consecutive years.

He emphasized that the ministry's digital capacity-building strategy includes many initiatives aimed at increasing the number of trainees and providing various technological specializations, resulting in a positive return for both the government and the private sector. The government's objectives are met by providing training and job opportunities for youth, as well as meeting the private sector's demand for trained cadres, skills, and expertise based on knowledge, study, and practical training.

On this occasion, Eng. Mohamed El-Koussy, Orange R&D Lab Egypt Director at Orange, expressed his pleasure in working with the National Telecommunication Institute, Egypt's prestigious scientific, educational, and research institution. “Over the years, the NTI has cooperated with Orange to train and qualify a number of young graduates, as orange places a special emphasis on young people because they are the foundation of the future”.
