In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population & Sherif Omar Foundation Orange Egypt Partakes In "Weqaya" Initiative to Reduce Breast Cancer Surgery Waiting Lists

Orange Egypt announced its support for "Weqaya" initiative, which aims to reduce and eliminate waiting lists for breast cancer surgeries in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population and "Dr. Sherif Omar" Foundation for Oncology. This falls within the societal pillars that Orange supports in the community out of its social responsibility’s strategy for women and the people in need.

In the context of the company's eagerness to quickly support the initiative and encourage the private sector's companies to take the same step, Orange Egypt handled all the requirements for performing breast cancer surgeries on dozens of women in accordance with the highest international quality standards, in order to expedite the cancer surgery waiting lists. Orange also raises community awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection in order to improve treatment outcomes.

On this occasion, Maha Nagy, Chief Communications Officer at Orange, stated that Orange Egypt is delighted to contribute to health-care initiatives aimed at Reducing the burdens on the people in need in the Egyptian society.

"Orange Egypt is constantly working to diversify its plans within the framework of its CSR strategy, and it always prioritizes health care initiatives and programs due to their sensitivity and time importance. Thus, we are honored to have been among the first supporters of the "Weqaya" initiative, and we pledge to support similar initiatives in the future", she added.

Dr. Omar Sharif Omar, A Professor of Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at -Kasr Aini, Cairo University and CEO of Sherif Omar Foundation, expressed his heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Orange Egypt, as well as his appreciation for its prompt response to the initiative and eagerness to lead among private sector companies.

"We sensed Orange Egypt's genuine desire to support the initiative and raise awareness about it as soon as it was announced. Hence, we are grateful to the company because such a prompt and enthusiastic response boosted to the initiative's success and early achievement of the desired goal", he added.

It is worth noting that the "Weqaya" initiative is heavily reliant on societal contributions from Egyptian businesses, which are mobilized and directed for the benefit of oncology patients through the Egyptian health system and the official authorities that rely on it. The initiative allows all businesses and hospitals to participate.
