Orange Egypt Champions Inclusion, Celebrating Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Innovators at Egypt’s Robotics Championship

Orange Egypt reaffirmed its dedication to supporting people with disabilities by sponsoring teams of deaf and hard-of-hearing innovators in the Open Robotics Championship Egypt (ORCE). Competing against more than 100 teams nationwide, these teams delivered outstanding performances, achieving top positions across multiple categories.

The participants impressed both audiences and judges with their ability to integrate sign language, lip-reading, and programming expertise to design and operate highly efficient robots. Teams competing under the names Falcon Eye, Smart Fox, Black OX, and Dragon Fire garnered numerous awards for robot design, programming, and operational performance, demonstrating exceptional technical skill and determination.

Maha Nagy, Chief Communications Officer at Orange Egypt, highlighted the company’s pride in supporting these talented innovators, stating: "Orange Egypt is proud to champion the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Their remarkable creativity and innovation have been showcased on a national stage. The achievements of these teams illustrate how talent thrives when given the right opportunities and underscore the importance of empowering individuals with the tools and environment needed to reach their full potential."

She added: "We believe that technology serves as a bridge to expand opportunities for everyone. This is why Orange continues to invest in initiatives promoting inclusion and digital empowerment, particularly in fields such as technology, programming, and robotics. The successes celebrated today highlight the vital role that deaf and hard-of-hearing innovators can play in Egypt’s digital transformation and their capacity to excel at both local and international levels."

Orange's sponsorship of these teams builds on the company's previous efforts to support the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, such as the launch of the "Shawer" service, which allows for direct communication via video calls with employees who specialize in sign language in the company's branches, as well as preferential packages and services aimed at promoting digital inclusion for this group.

Samy Gamil, Founder of the ASDAA Association for serving the Hearing Impaired, praised the ongoing support provided to these innovators, noting that empowerment programs have opened doors to advanced education and full scholarships in robotics, programming, and electronics. He emphasized that such initiatives enable participants to showcase their capabilities and pursue new professional opportunities.

The participating teams performed admirably owing to the training they received from instructors in their respective fields, which improved their confidence and inspired them to improve their talents. This was obviously reflected in their competitive performance, which demonstrated their dedication and enthusiasm for sophisticated technology.

Orange Egypt underlines its continuous support for community activities that promote inclusion and innovation, ensuring that the most disadvantaged people have access to all technology tools and services. This is a key component of its corporate social responsibility and position as an active participant in Egypt's sustainable development efforts.
