In the Presence of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Orange Egypt Signs MoU with Smart Villages Development & Management Company to Initiate the Pilot Phase of Public Transportation Bus Stations Project at Smart Village

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Orange Egypt, the fastest network in Egypt, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Smart Villages Development and Management Company to carry out a project that targets the development of public bus stations and waiting areas at Smart Village.

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of Cairo ICT 2019 Conference and Exhibition, held on December 1 -4, under the auspices of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. The singing of the MoU was witnessed by Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

The development process, that will be implemented by Orange will include providing wireless internet services at stations and electronic signs that can be fed with trips timetables, departure and arrival times of buses via the main control rooms directly and instantaneously. Furthermore, Orange will provide the stations and waiting areas with mobile phone charging stations, smart lighting units and electronic displays to broadcast pre-programmed advertisements.

This agreement comes in line with the Egypt’s direction towards financial inclusion and digital transformation. This is one of the most important steps taken to provide faster, cheaper and more efficient services that are fully based on digital systems.
