Orange Egypt and Huawei Jointly Deploy the World’s First CCIC Microwave Technology to Revolutionize Spectrum Efficiency under Egyptian NTRA Supervision

Orange Egypt and Huawei jointly announced the successful deployment of the world’s first Co-Channel Interference Cancellation (CCIC) microwave technology.

This groundbreaking milestone represents a major leap in wireless backhaul innovation, showcasing the power of joint R&D and technical collaboration between two companies. By deploying Huawei’s advanced CCIC algorithms and interference-cancellation architecture across Orange’s robust network infrastructure, the deployment addresses spectrum scarcity by maximizing microwave spectrum efficiency by up to 400%. The technology allows up to four high-capacity links to operate simultaneously on the exact same frequency channel without signal degradation—quadrupling network throughput while conserving valuable spectrum resources.

As a key technology provider, Huawei contributed its cutting-edge microwave solutions, software-defined interference cancellation algorithms, and technical expertise to design, test, and integrate the CCIC solution into Orange’s nationwide network.

This deployment strengthens Egypt’s digital backbone, enabling ultra-high-speed connectivity for mobile broadband and laying the groundwork for advanced 5G enterprise and consumer services.

This leading innovation was made possible through the forward-looking supervision and continuous support of the Egyptian NTRA.

Their commitment to maximizing national spectrum resources and enabling cutting-edge technological solutions is instrumental in accelerating a robust and inclusive digital economy for Egypt.

“Our long-standing partnership with Huawei Egypt continues to set new benchmarks for innovation in the telecommunications sector,” said Dr. Ayman Amiri, Chief Technology & Information Officer at Orange Egypt. “By deploying this world-first CCIC solution alongside Huawei, we are directly overcoming spectrum bottlenecks and reinforcing our commitment to delivering a world-class, future-proof digital infrastructure for our customers across Egypt.”

Engineer Mohamed Youssef, Key Account Executive at Huawei Egypt, stated: “Huawei is proud to deepen its strategic collaboration with Orange Egypt to introduce this pioneering CCIC microwave innovation to the market.

Through our close technical cooperation, we have demonstrated how cutting-edge interference management can unlock unprecedented network performance.

Together with Orange Egypt, we remain dedicated to building seamless, highly efficient, and reliable connectivity solutions that support Egypt’s national digital transformation agenda.”

This deployment marks the latest milestone in a successful multi-decade strategic partnership between Orange Egypt and Huawei. The two companies have consistently collaborated to bring first-to-market network innovations to the region, including nationwide 5G infrastructure rollouts, advanced Massive MIMO deployment, E-band high-capacity microwave backhaul, green '0 Bit 0 Watt' energy-efficient base stations, and localized enterprise cloud services.
