Orange Egypt Launches Innovative Interactive Environmental Experience for Employees on World Environment Day to Promote Climate Awareness
As part of the celebration of World Environment Day 2026 under the theme: “Inspired by Nature. For the Climate. For Our Future.”, Orange Egypt has launched an innovative environmental experience for its employees on Al-Qorsaya Island in Cairo in collaboration with Dayma Foundation.
The initiative was organized as part of Orange Group’s global “Engage for Change” platform, which aims to encourage employee engagement in sustainability and climate action while promoting more responsible environmental and social practices. The initiative aligns with Orange Group’s commitment to accelerating decarbonization efforts, reducing carbon emissions, and driving sustainable growth.
The initiative brought together employees from different sectors across the company, with the participation of Hesham Mahran, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Orange Egypt.
The event reflected Orange Egypt’s ongoing efforts to strengthen climate action awareness and deepen understanding of ecosystems, while empowering employees to contribute to sustainability goals and serve as active ambassadors for responsible environmental practices within their communities.
The experience was designed to connect participants directly with the challenges of climate change and promote climate action concepts through educational and field-based activities that combine experiential learning with direct interaction with nature. The program aimed to foster a deeper understanding of current environmental challenges and encourage more sustainable behaviors both inside and outside the workplace.
The activities included exploring local ecosystems on Qursaya Island to better understand the impact of climate change on vulnerable environments, observing biodiversity within natural habitats, and participating in specialized workshops focused on carbon footprint awareness and reduction. Part of the program agenda is for employees to take part in practical sessions centered on nature-based solutions and biomimicry methodologies to better understand environmental resilience and sustainability.
Accelerating the Transition to a Low-Carbon Future
The event also highlighted Orange Egypt’s and Orange Group’s ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable business model. The company continues to implement comprehensive plans to improve energy efficiency across its telecommunications networks and data centers, expand the use of renewable energy sources, and adopt advanced technologies that help reduce the environmental impact of its operations.
Orange Egypt also showcased the progress achieved under Orange Group’s global “Trust the Future” strategy, which places climate action and decarbonization at the heart of its priorities. The strategy aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 through reducing both direct and indirect emissions across the Group’s operations and developing more efficient and sustainable operating models in all markets where it operates.
Orange Egypt believes that the role of technology and telecommunications companies extends beyond providing digital services. It also includes contributing to the development of a low-carbon economy and supporting environmental protection efforts by leveraging technology to improve resource efficiency, reduce emissions, and raise environmental awareness among employees and the communities it serves.
This initiative reflects Orange Egypt’s continued commitment to integrating sustainability principles and climate action across its operations and activities, supporting the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030 and contributing to the development of a more sustainable and resilient economy capable of addressing future environmental and climate challenges, in line with Egypt’s national sustainability agenda and Orange Group’s commitment to responsible and sustainable growth.
