Orange Egypt Showcases State-of-the-Art Digital Services and Smart Cities Solutions at Cairo ICT 2019

Orange Egypt, the fastest network in Egypt, participated in the 23rd Cairo ICT which is held From December 1-4 at Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) under the patronage of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Cairo ICT 2019 is the outstanding platform for Orange Egypt to showcase state-of-the-art solutions and services in line with the country's expansion plans. During the Exhibition Orange Egypt highlighted the most recent digital communications and data transfer technologies through its latest financial services, smart cities solutions and advanced capabilities in integrated telecommunications services.

Orange Egypt has launched several new services to support the country's strategy for digital transformation and financial inclusion in 2019. The company has also concluded several agreements and cooperation protocols to be implemented with the ministries of communications and social solidarity, other government agencies and large companies.

Smart Cities Solutions

Transportation and traffic congestion are two major problems that the government is continuously exerting efforts to solve. Therefore, Orange Egypt at Cairo ICT 2019 focused on this sector by state of the art solutions that present how technology could be adapted to serve this area, which is considered one of the main pillars of smart cities development.

During the Cairo ICT 2019, Orange, in cooperation with its partners in the field of smart cities technology, in particular smart transportation, introduces the following solutions:

Smart vehicle parking:

This solution gives cities unprecedented possibilities, allowing them to spot the available & free parking spaces at the city level, as well as the possibility of providing the service to citizens through a dedicated mobile application that shows the vacant spaces in the various parking areas in addition to broadcasting this information on digital signage’s along city roads.

Smart Gate Solutions Access Control:

This solution provides & manages access to specific areas using mobile phones instead of dedicated access cards that could be integrated with mobile payment application- Orange Cash.

Traffic Status Displays:

This solution provides live tracking of traffic status, allowing citizens to avoid traffic congestions by showing alternative routes. In addition, temporary road closures, speed limits, and other traffic related information could be displayed.

In the same context, Orange Egypt has signed a memorandum of understanding as a part of a consortium headed by the Arab Organization for Industrialization, with the participation of several specialized companies in the field of transportation, on top is Mwasalat Misr . This consortium aims to provide an integrated platform for smart public transportation solutions in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Financial Inclusion and Digital Transformation Solutions

Orange is keen to support the State direction towards digital transformation, financial inclusion, and the provision of electronic payment services to lighten the burden incurred by citizens. Accordingly, Orange proudly announce for the first time in Egypt , in cooperation with e-finance, the operating Egyptian government financial network, availing a variety of payment and collection services for the government services through Orange Cash. This comes in partnership with Emirates NBD, to allow payment of university expenses, social housing installments, electricity, water, and natural gas bills, in addition to the collection of government services including real estate taxes payments.

During Cairo ICT, Orange announced the expansion in the financial services via Orange Cash in cooperation with Fawry for Banking Technology and Electronic Payments through enabling more than 300 new services that can be paid easily and securely at any time such as the payment of clubs subscriptions, syndicate subscriptions, reservation of clinics and hospitals, insurance and loans installments, cinema and travel tickets, donations, and online payments.

Following the latest technology trends offered in the market, Orange continues to surprise its subscribers through announcing the launch of merchant payment as the first mobile operator to avail to all the merchants via QR code acceptance. Orange Cash merchants will also be capable to accept wallet payments from different wallets in Egypt issued from other players in cooperation with Meeza network. The new service allows Orange Cash customers to purchase goods from merchants and companies via mobile phones. This service supports the CBE's efforts to deploy mobile services, which will accordingly reduce cash transactions and promote the “cashless community” concept.

Entrepreneurs and Startups Solutions

Believing in the importance of adapting modern technological solutions to develop startups and entrepreneurs that play a vital role in driving the growth of the Egyptian economy, Orange will be offering its latest solutions to support entrepreneurs and raise the efficiency of enterprises, startups and small businesses through the launch of Business Pro integrated solutions.

Business Pro solutions are designed to provide the best support for startups and entrepreneurs and enable them to start and develop different projects and give them a unique footprint that differentiates them from competitors by providing all basic voice and data communication technologies with a variety of services in the same sector. In addition, these solutions provide access to several other technical services that help companies in digital transformation, including solutions and services to communicate with customers through social networking programs and smart text messaging services, company's management service that provides the necessary tools to store and restore information in a fast and safe manner through cloud computing services offered by Orange.
