Orange Egypt Wins Athar Award for Best Practices in CSR and Sustainability
Orange Egypt has received the Athar Award for Best Practices in CSR and Sustainability in its second edition, in recognition of the company’s institutional leadership in embedding sustainability and corporate social responsibility at the core of its strategy. The award highlights Orange Egypt’s alignment with Egypt Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing its role as a strategic development partner driving measurable and long-term impact.
The Athar Award is one of the leading platforms dedicated to recognizing exemplary practices in sustainability and CSR. It relies on rigorous evaluation criteria that measure the real impact of initiatives, their alignment with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, and their ability to translate social commitment into long-term developmental outcomes.
The award was received by Maha Nagy, Chief Communications Officer at Orange Egypt, who emphasized that the recognition reflects Orange’s ongoing commitment to positioning sustainability and CSR as strategic pillars across all of its operations.
Commenting on the achievement, Nagy said:
"Receiving the Athar Award reaffirms that Orange Egypt’s CSR and sustainability strategy is built on a clear institutional vision focused on measurable results and a real, lasting impact on people’s lives."
She added:
"Orange Egypt is actively working to build a more inclusive and empowered digital society by investing in education, healthcare, economic empowerment, youth development, and entrepreneurship. Through these initiatives, we aim to create shared value for both the Egyptian economy and society."

In terms of women’s economic empowerment, Orange Digital Centers for Women expanded to 18 centers across Upper Egypt, serving more than 21,000 women through specialized digital skills training designed to enhance economic independence.
Orange Egypt also strengthened its efforts to empower youth digitally by supporting initiatives such as Digitopia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which has trained more than 25,000 young people in fields including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, gaming, and creative technologies, helping prepare national talent for the digital labor market.
The company’s support for entrepreneurship also continued through organizing the 15th edition of the Orange Social Venture Prize (OSVP) and sponsoring the 19th edition of the Enactus competition, in addition to promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities in technology fields, further reinforcing the concept of digital inclusion.
On the sustainability front, Orange Egypt has achieved tangible progress, with more than 40% of its network sites now operating on renewable energy. The company has also successfully collected and safely recycled over 3,000 electronic devices from customers. Additionally, more than 2,000 employees participated in awareness and training sessions aimed at strengthening a culture of sustainability.
Orange Egypt continues to maintain transparency through issuing annual reports aligned with ESG standards, highlighting its initiatives, achievements, and future commitments.
Within the framework of social protection, the company doubled customer donations through Orange Cash during Ramadan, alongside continued support for vulnerable families and healthcare initiatives, including its ongoing partnership with the Baheya Foundation for Breast Cancer.
Winning the Athar Award underscores Orange Egypt’s integrated sustainability model, which combines responsible operational performance with measurable social impact. By transforming digital innovation into a driver of inclusive growth, Orange Egypt continues to position itself as a key strategic partner in advancing sustainable development across Egypt.
