Ministry of Education signs a cooperation protocol with Orange Egypt to launch a digital platform for E-lessons

  • Orange offers the latest digital services after accurate study of the Ministry’s Strategies

The Ministry of Education and Technical Education signed a cooperation protocol with Orange Egypt to provide hosting services and provide the cloud infrastructure necessary to operate and manage a digital platform for e-lessons launched by the ministry, for a period of three years, that allows students to easily access the contents of the educational subjects. The protocol was signed in the presence of Dr. Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and Engineer Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt.

Orange Egypt was chosen to lead this project after accurate study to the ministry strategy and needs where Orange presented various ideas and solutions which came in line with the ministry’s vision and strategy and accordingly Orange was chosen to implement this project and started allocating the necessary resources to ensure the success of the platform.

The agreement includes that the Ministry of Education develop an educational platform to display educational content for students, identify the necessary technical needs related to hosting and the necessary infrastructure to launch the platform, and provide the digital content to be made available on the platform in line with the ministry's vision and strategy in this regard.

Furthermore, Orange in coordination with the Ministry will provide the platform with all the modern technologies needed to host content through its data hosting centers, and provide the cloud infrastructure necessary to operate and manage the platform. Orange cash will also be used as a mean of paying the fees for the platform via smart phones.

Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education, said that this step comes within the framework of the ministry's keenness to provide alternatives teaching methods for students, where the ministry launched more than one digital library (https://study.ekb.eg) and a platform to broadcast educational lessons to our students (https://stream.moe.gov.eg) since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis. Additionally, the Ministry also launched a platform to broadcast final reviews for high school students for various subjects https://www.thanaweya.net

Shawky added that all such procedures are part of an integrated strategy to develop the educational system as the Ministry adopts new policies based on modern technological and educational means to implement the State's comprehensive plan to overcome any possible repercussions of the novel COVID 19.

For his part, Eng. Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt, said that he is honored that Orange Egypt has been chosen by the Ministry of Education to carry out this essential project, which reflects great confidence in the technological infrastructure of Orange Egypt which has been developed by the company over the past years to support the state's plans for digital transformation." he elaborated.

He added “Orange Egypt provides numerous advanced technical services, on top of them is cloud services which depend on Orange’s smart infrastructure and global experiences in implementing various and multiple projects in cooperation with major international companies."

The cooperation between the two parties is a huge step towards implementing the Ministry of Education’s e-learning plan. This comes in line with the state’s policies that achieved great success in adopting modern technologies and using them in education systems in Egypt during the last period.

Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt, Maha Nagy, Chief Communications Officer, Rania Gharib, Chief Legal, Regulatory and Compliance Officer, Hisham Mahran, Enterprise Line of Business Officer, Mokhtar Omar, Sales Director, Hala Abdel-Wadood, Head Of Public Relations & Corporate Social Responsibility, and Mohamed Al Ghool, Innovation & ICT Senior Manager.
