An engineer in information technology (MsC) and MBA holder, Bart has over 25 years of experience in telecommunications of which 17 years in the Orange group, with technical, marketing, business development, wholesale, transformation and strategy responsibilities.
Starting as an applied researcher in the field of ultra-fast telecommunication systems at the University of Ghent, Belgium followed by a short stint at the cable operator Telenet where he designed the HFC (Hybrid Fiber Access) network, Bart joins the Orange group in 1999 at its Belgium affiliate Mobistar (rebranded to Orange Belgium in May 2016). First as an engineer in the technical department, he moved soon to the carrier business and becomes Director Carrier Business & Wholesale in 2006.
From 2008 until mid-2011, Bart moves to Moscow, Russia to take up the position as Director Strategy & Marketing for Orange Business Services Russia and CIS countries.
Afterwards, Bart moves back to Mobistar to take up the position as Director Product Marketing, Interconnection and Roaming and prepares also the 4G launch for Mobistar and Orange Luxembourg.
Beginning 2013, Bart moves to Paris to become Marketing Transformation Director for the Europa zone (30,000 employees and 10BnEuro yearly revenue) with the purpose to leverage the Orange scale advantages in Europe. Bart launches among other things the Orange pan-European Go Europe roaming offer.
Bart returns back to Mobistar in March 2015 and is in charge for both Business Development and Operational Efficiency for the company, allowing him to contribute to both the top line and the bottom line of the company.
On 15 February 2017, Bart is appointed Chief Transformation and Operational Efficiency of Orange Egypt. Orange Egypt is happy that it will be able to capitalize on Bart’s extensive telecommunications experience, especially in the transformation and efficiency domain, to execute its transformation plan.
