Under the auspices of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation Orange Egypt join forces with YLE Foundation for cleaning the Nile River ahead of COP 27
The campaign was launched from the headquarters of the Engineers Syndicate Club in Zamalek, and carried out by Orangeemployees and volunteers of 'Youth Love Egypt.' The cleaning took place at the banks of Zamalek neighborhood tillEmbaba Bridge where volunteers used gloves and waste handles to reduce the use of plastic. The campaign, whichlasted for several hours since the morning, resulted in collecting more than a ton of plastic waste in burlap sackswhere the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation donated a water digger to support in collecting the waste.
This campaign aims to highlight the importance of collaboration among civil society organizations, the privatesector, and government agencies in raising environmental awareness about the importance of reducing plastic wastedue to its significant impact on biodiversity and natural resources.
For her part, Ms. Maha Nagy, Chief Communications Officer at Orange Egypt, expressed her pride in working with theMinistry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the "Youth Love Egypt" Foundation for the second time in purifyingand cleaning the Nile River banks.
"Orange intends to direct a lot of efforts and supportive contributions in the field of social responsibility toprotect the environment and face the repercussions of climate change, as part of Orange group strategy, which aimsto completely eliminate its carbon-emitting activities by 2040 while preserving the environment", she added.
