For the 13th year in a row, Orange Egypt Sponsors Enactus National Competition 2020 with the Participation of 58 Egyptian Universities

Orange Egypt, the fastest network in Egypt, sponsored Enactus National Competition 2020, where 58 Egyptian universities competed to win the highest ranks as the first-place winners will represent Egypt in the World Cup.

Orange Egypt's sponsorship of Enactus for the 13th year in a row comes in line with its leading role and strategy in supporting CSR projects aiming to foster the innovation and entrepreneurship of youth to enable them for a better future and encourage them create beneficial developmental projects that support the community.

Moreover, Orange insisted on sponsoring the competition despite the exceptional circumstances that the country and the world are going through due to the Coronavirus pandemic, aiming to support youth, improve their morale and engage them to be part of a sustainable long-term recovery.

In Addition, all projects were submitted and evaluated online due to current circumstances in compliance with Covid-19 safety measures and social distancing in the presence of Orange officials, businessmen and chief executives of major international companies.

At the end of the competition, Al-Azhar University (Assiut) Team won the first place with their project that helps Shakshuk village in Fayoum to recycle shrimp peel and reuse it in making other products instead of throwing them in Qarun Lake. Cairo University team came in the second place for their e-waste collection and recycling project. Misr University for Science and Technology ended up in the third place with their project aiming to use an alternative, cheaper plant “Panicum” with a higher nutritional value than berseem and does not consume large areas of agricultural land

With these results, Al-Azhar University (Assiut) team, who ranked first, will be representing Egypt in the World Cup .

Commenting on this event, Hala Abdel Wadood, Head of Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility at Orange Egypt, said: “We invest and pay close attention to youth and today we are all proud of Al-Azhar University team, who participated for the first time in the history of Enactus and won for the first place. Abdel Wadood added that this win undoubtedly sheds light on the great and enormous potential of the Upper Egypt youth, which also appeared clearly in the capabilities of the customer service staff at Orange new customer care center that was inaugurated last year at Assuit new technological park.

"We will continue to support and showcase the extraordinary talents of youth across the republic and provide them with the necessary training and guidance as we deeply believe in sponsoring such initiatives that help in emerging a generation of leaders who have a sense of belonging and are willing to support the community," she added.

On this occasion, Professor Fatima Serry, President and CEO of Enactus Egypt, said that she is thrilled with the accomplishments of Enactus teams as their innovation did not stop while the world stopped due to the Coronavirus pandemic, noting that Enactus teams deal with any problem as an opportunity for entrepreneurship and achieving an economic return for the beneficiaries.
